1. Move DLE to localhost

Move DLE to localhost

  |   14
How to move Datalife Engine website to localhost and/or move Datalife Engine to different host or different domain name..in this tutorial we will show you the step by step how to do that easily, it also very useful for backup your website.

The following changes are made in php.ini file in video tutorial
post_max_size
upload_max_filesize
max_execution_time
max_input_time
memory_limit

Sets max size of post data allowed. This setting also affects file upload. To upload large files, this value must be larger than upload_max_filesize. If memory limit is enabled by your configure script, memory_limit also affects file uploading. Generally speaking, memory_limit should be larger than post_max_size.

upload_max_filesize and post_max_size
Files are usually POSTed to the webserver in a format known as 'multipart/form-data'. The post_max_size sets the upper limit on the amount of data that a script can accept in this manner. Ideally this value should be larger than the value that you set for upload_max_filesize.

It's important to realize that upload_max_filesize is the sum of the sizes of all the files that you are uploading. post_max_size is the upload_max_filesize plus the sum of the lengths of all the other fields in the form plus any mime headers that the encoder might include. Since these fields are typically small you can often approximate the upload max size to the post max size.

memory_limit
When the PHP engine is handling an incoming POST it needs to keep some of the incoming data in memory. This directive has any effect only if you have used the --enable-memory-limit option at configuration time. Setting too high a value can be very dangerous because if several uploads are being handled concurrently all available memory will be used up and other unrelated scripts that consume a lot of memory might effect the whole server as well.

max_execution_time and max_input_time
These settings define the maximum life time of the script and the time that the script should spend in accepting input. If several mega bytes of data are being transfered max_input_time should be reasonably high. You can override the setting in the ini file for max_input_time by calling the set_time_limit() function in your scripts.

hahaha....when making tutorials without script to put them on tutorial, he did tutorial while breaking time like that, it could make tutorial very long...lol...

memory_limit, he didn't change in tutorial, but usually when you first install wamp server, the default setting is 128MB memory and it should be enough for regular size like in tutorial, but if your site database have big size like 100MB or more, you should change it to higher value to get wamp server run faster...in my computer I set to 1024MB which is 1GB,,,but make sure that the memory size should not equal to your computer memory otherwise wamp server will eat up all of your memory...

If your computer have 512MB of memory..I recommend to set to 128 or 256MB
If your computer have 1GB of memory or more, I recommend to set to 512MB..should be enough...

However, if your site only have small size, there is no need to set memory to high number 128MB as default is more than enough...I set my to 1BG because I have over 30 websites in my localhost and a few of them have 450MB of database... tongue

Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end!
Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness...Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.

that means you don't have mod_rewrite enable on your localhost, so the easy way to fix that is to enable mod_rewite on your localhost...
1) click on "WAMP" server icon on your taskbar
2) point your mouse to "Apache"
3) point your mouse to "Apache modules"
4) click to check on "rewrite_module"
5) after you click to check mark on it, then the wamp server will restart automatically, this could take approximately 5-10 second depending on your computer.

Now you can try to access to your localhost site again

Apache Mod_rewrite on localhost

make sure you set the site url correctly, if you move website from server to localhost, you must change the URL in dle admin system settings, then use Find and Replace function in dle admin cp to replace your old website to use your localhost instead

ah..that something I didn't know on your issue..but quite frankly I never tried to host any domains on wamp server and actually wamp server is not for production anyway...so i think you might have to ask wamp server community for help on that because I never experienced it myself. or try to get some answers from stackoverflow.com, you will get ton of answers there, search for something like host domain in wamp server or something.

try to refresh your browser, maybe it's domain security blocking...sorry about that.
